By Sharon Fabian

Your nervous system is like a built-in computer. It keeps all of your systems working together and working smoothly. It also has a lot of jobs to do on its own.

One of its jobs is homework! It is also responsible for getting your class work done. In fact, all of the thinking that you do is done by your nervous system. It also handles memory chores and keeping your thoughts organized. Your nervous system provides you with dreams, too.

Your nervous system regulates your muscles. It tells them when to run, and when to speed up or slow down. It tells your hand just how to move when you want to write, paint, or draw. Your nervous system regulates things you don't usually even think about, like breathing and blinking your eyes.
