二、教学内容
1. 2a
T: Now let's come to activity 2a.Please look at the picture. That's a book of world records. What does world record mean?
S1: Someone is the best.
T: Correct. A person who has a world record for skating is the best skater in the world.（教师把record写在黑板上）It means “纪录”in Chinese. Now read after me. record(↘),record(↗),record(↘).
Ss: Record(↘), record(↗), record(↘).
T: What do the words start and stop mean?Can someone stand up and show me start and stop?
S2: (Stands and starts to walk) Start. (Stop walking) Stop.
T: That's correct. (Repeating the starting and stopping actions) Start. Stop. On the recording, you will hear a conversation about the two people on this chart. What are their names?
S3: The man is Charles Smith and the woman is Donna Green.
T: Correct. They are two unusual people. 他们是两个不同寻常的人。Look at Charles Smith. What did he do?
S4: He hiccupped.
T: Right. How to hiccup? Can you show me?
S4: Yes. (Then do the action of hiccupping.)
T: OK. Thank you.（转身把hiccup写在黑板上）Hiccup is a verb. Its Chinese meaning is “打嗝”. Read after me, hiccup (↘),hiccup(↗),hiccup(↘).

T: 它的现在分词形式和过去式是在词的结尾处双写p，再加ing或ed。（板书hiccupping, hiccupped, 两个词的第二个p用黄色粉笔书写）Read after me:hiccupping, hiccupped.

T: Look at Donna Green. What did she do?
S5: She sneezed.
T: Right. Can you show me how to sneeze?
S5:OK. (Then do the action of sneezing.)
T: Good. Thank you.（转身板书sneeze）Sneeze is a verb. It means “打喷嚏”in Chinese. Now read it please. Sneeze (↘), sneeze (↗), sneeze(↘).

T: 注意它的现在分词形式为去掉结尾加e，再加上ing, sneezing.（板书）Read it: sneezing.

T: Mr Smith has a world record for hiccupping and Ms Green has a world record for sneezing. Now let's listen to the conversation about Charles Smith and Donna Green.（教师打开录音机开始播放。第一遍结束，教师关闭录音机） Listen and look at the chart. Fill in the information for each person under the column (栏) that says how long.（对话结束，教师关闭录音机）Let's check your answers. How long did Charles Smith hiccup?
S6: 69 years and 5 months.
T: Is that right?
Ss: Yes.
T: Yes, he hiccupped for 69 years and 5months. How long did Donna Green sneeze?

T: Excellent. Thank you. Now who'd like to take about Donna Green according to the information from your chart.
S11 (a girl): I'd like to. Donna Green has the world record for sneezing .She sneezed for 978 days. She started sneezing on January 13, 1981and stopped it on September 16, 1983.

T: (Points out difference between the first question and answer and the other two.)是的，这三个问答都用的是一般过去时，但第一个问答用的是be动词的过去式形式，后二个问答用的是行为动词的过去式形式。
